April/May 2018

May 27- guys are killing kings daily. 150-250 is holding fish, up in the 50 and above range. It’s been great. Go and get em while you can.

May 21- the bite for kings remains great, though deeper now- 150 and deeper. Browns are active near shore. It’s a great time to fish- so get out there or call one of the charters!

May 12- it’s no secret, the kings are here! We tried to Fish browns tight to shore today, and we did catch 2- but what we mostly caught was kings! They were hitting small spoons off planer boards and short riggers. At about 10 we trolled our to 100 and caught some there too! Let a few smaller ones go, kept these for the grill

May 9 2018- there has been a decent king bite out of Sodus, and in most ports. Location changes from day to day- sometimes they are in as little as 40 fow, others out to 150 fow. They are in the upper slice of water, usually 50 feet and up. Lakers are around 100 on the bottom, and brown Fishing is good when the conditions allow. It’s a good time to fish, and the loc starts this week- get out there and get Sodus on the board!!

May 1 2018- the Brown bite is variable- after a blow or rain, it is quite good. If the water is calm or clear, it can be tough. We fished Saturday, and the water was flat calm with no wind- horrible conditions for near shore browns. We fished inside for 2 hours without a single hit. We went out to 90-100 and beat up the lakers pretty good. Cowbells and gambler rigs did the trick. The water is finally warming, 40-41 this weekend and 44 today. Expect the browns to be near shore, for a few more weeks, then they’ll slide a little deeper. Steelhead should start to mix in in a few weeks!

April 21- We finally splashed the boat early this week, and got our maiden voyage today. I heard of a good near shore bite, the very few days the weather have thus far permitted. We fished east and had a good steady pick of cookie cutter browns on natural colored bay rats OUTSIDE of the mudline- we were able to do a dozen pretty easily but threw most of them back. We fished mostly 10-20 fow. When we got back in we heard the same story to the west and even a few salmon in 40 fow or so. Lakers are there if you want them too.

In the bay, the bullhead bite will get going this week, and guys are still getting perch. Good weather is finally coming! Get at em!
